Help identify plant

Question
Have had plant for severl years. Looks very similar to top of pineapple.Never had any sign of pineapple growth or flowers.Leaves are the same shape with smooth edges (no bristles).New growth shoots from the top. Have plucked, rooted in water,& planted.Doesn't seem to affect original plant. But, as new growth appears, in many cases the lower leaves turn brown & die exposing a rather hardy, thick stem. Have seen leafless stem grow several inches while supporting beautiful green leaves & continuing new growth. Have even removed plant entirely from pot, cut off most of old stem (which still shows beautiful green leaves), rooted in water & replanted when strong roots grew.

Answer
Pat,

I was hoping you had sent a picture so I could positively identify it. I am sure it is a type of Dracaena. You can go to google and put Dracaena in the click on images and find which one matches your plant. Then click on the picture and it will tell you what it is or take you to the website that will ID the plant. If that doesn't work send me a picture of the plant and i will be able to identify it for you. Good luck.

Darlene
