Question
Unknown plant, could b
Hello there, I bought this plant three weeks ago, the seller was unable to tell me the name of the plant. Anyway, from what I've googled, it could be a Dracaena draco, please correct me on that.
Now the problem, the oldest leaves were getting yellowish tip, so I thought they aged out and I cut them with a clean scissor, but later the whole leave had started to yellow, I teared of three leaves from the plant already, and this yellowing is still going on. The plant is in a clay pot, and it also has clay made bottom for extra water drainage. Please help me. Thanking in advance!
PS, I've attached an image, please check that.
AnswerMahmud Shuvra,
Yellowing leaves are usually the result of keeping the plant constantly wet. This plant must dry out between waterings. Yes it does look like a Dracaena. You need to empty the drain tray after watering. Since it looks too large to pick up you can do this with a turkey baster that will suck excess water out of the drain tray. Then do not water it again until the top few inches of soil has been dry for 2-3 days. The roots need a chance to breath between waterings. They do not do that if the plant is constantly wet. That will cause root rot and more yellow leaves. Good luck.
