pups

Question
my aechmea stoped blooming several months ago, but i still have no pups.  what can i do?

Answer
Hi Terry,

Normally, your Aechmea would have a pup by now, but every plant is unique. Your Aechmea may simply be slower than average in producing a pup. This would be the case if you repotted it into a larger pot. Because so many Bromeliads sold today are hybrids, it is also possible that you have a hybrid that does not produce pups.

In any case, there is nothing yo can do other than to be patient and give Mother Nature a full opportunity to do what she is gong to do. I suspect your patience will be rewarded, but I cannot guarantee it.

I have written an article on Bromeliads that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who sends a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
