QuestionI bought a palm tree from Florida over the weekend and i live in Indiana, I am not sure what fertilizer to buy? How big of a pot should I start it in?
AnswerRoxanne,
If you feel you must move it to a larger pot make sure that the diameter of the new pot is no more than 4 inches larger than the diameter of the pot it was in when you purchased it. I hope you realize that many palms grow 40-80 feet tall and will not live long in your home. If it is a small palm that won't get more than 4 feet tall ever it needs Miracid fertilizer, the acidic version of Miracid. If it is one that will outgrow your house soon you are better off not using fertilizer but if you feel you do you can use any fertilizer that says it is for Azaleas.
In your question you said you live in Indiana but the salutation said you live in Georgia. If you have more questions feel free to write again but I need to know which state you do live it. Good luck with your palm.
