Ponytail Palm Bonsai spider

Question
I just received a Ponytail Palm Bonsai for Mothers Day and it looks great.  However, after unpacking it and letting it set for a couple of hours I noticed a yellowish, whitish spider on the leaves.  I've not seen a spider like it before; are these plants prone to harboring spiders? Also, I have 2 cats so I'd like to know if my new plant is poisonous.

Answer
Hi Donetta,

Ponytail Palms are not prone to spiders and are quite resistant to most plant pests.

Ponytail Palms are not listed on the ASPCA's list of plants toxic to cats.

I have written an article on Ponytail Palms that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who sends a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
