QuestionI received some hyacinth bulbs (blooming) in a pot as a gift. Can I get them to bloom again. I read about forcing bulbs but am not sure if these can be forced again and if so do I have to take them out of the soil they are in and dry them out first????
I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Penny
AnswerPenny,
They will not bloom again for a year and then only with a cold treatment which can be done by forcing which you said you read about. They can be kept in the same pot. But, during the spring and summer they need to be outside in full sun, watered regularly and fertilized with a blooming plant fertilizer. This is so the leaves feed the bulb to make it grow larger so it will produce more blooms and they will last longer. The easier way is just to plant them in a flower bed and let mother nature take over. You will still need to fertilize and water occasionally if your weather is really dry. The smell of hyacinths when you are exploring your yard in the spring is heavenly. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
