Question
Peace Lily
Hi,
Your advice please.
AnswerHi Alfredo,
I think the problem is the quality of the soil and the manner in which it is potted. The soil looks like it is filled with gritty porous material that is more suited for succulents and epiphytes. I don't suggest you replace the soil, but this type of soil will require more frequent watering and more fertilizing than standard peat-based potting soil.
It also looks like the rootball is sitting too high in the pot so that the upper roots are exposed to the air. You might consider getting a pot that is just an inch or two taller so you can add a bit more potting mix on the surface.
Check the pH level of your soil. If it is above 6.8, then you will need to correct it to a more acidic level. If the pH is too high, the nutrients will not be soluble enough for the plant to use no matter how much fertilizer you add.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
