Frosted Yucca plant

Question
I have two Yuccas about 24" tall that live outside (in Dallas), they are in a sheltered area under our covered porch.  In our recent cold spedd they both had the tops of each branch fall over due to the cold.

I bought them into the garage and have straped them upto stakes to hold them upright and try help revive them.

Is there anything else I can do to help save them?  Is there a particular fertilizer that will help them?

We are about to get another cold spell, they are away from the cold and are in the sunlight of a south facing window.

Please let me know if you can help me save these beautiful plants!

Many thanks.

Nicola

Answer
Nicola,

If the top turns totally brown and drys up you will have to cut it off bact ot the green but it will send out new side shoots. In the future you have to pay attention to the weather forecasts and if they predict it will get below freezing for  the night take it into the garage or indoors by a window for a feww days untill the temps go back up. If the stalk freezes to the ground you will loose it.

Good luck,
Darlene
