QuestionHello! Are there any plants that have flowers that can be planted inside the house in an area without sunlight? My client would like Gardenia's but I have been told they need sunlight. I appreciate any information you can give me on this-Help!!!
Thank you thank you thank you!
AnswerLoettaa,
African violets, peace lilies, azaleas, bromeliads, Streptocarpus, phaleonopsis orchids, Angel-wing begonias and Columneas all will live and bloom in medium light. No plant will bloom in light that is so low that your hand will not make a shadow. Yes, Gardenias need a lot of direct sun or supplemental light that is on for at least 14 hours a day. They also need a temperature drop at night of at least 12 degrees for 10 hours, from 70 degrees down to 58 degrees. I am assuming this is in an office. If you let me know how much light there is, what direction the windows face, how many days a week this office operates, is there supplemental florescent lighting? Answer these questions and I will try to help you more.
