should i trim the bougainvillea before i cover it for the
winter...  do i have to cover the jasmine plant?

My expertise is limited to houseplants, which are plants that are kept indoors for most of the year. I am not familiar with all of the different climates and environments to be able to answer outdoor planting questions. Try a gardening or tropical plants expert and be sure to tell them where you are located.
