QuestionMy beautiful plant was infected with insecticide and almost died. I cut it down and rooted the clippings which are now ready to plant. I heard that african violet soil was good for this plant. What is your opinion?
AnswerHi Isabel,
So much for chemical pesticides! What were you trying to treat? Mealybugs? There are safe, effective treatments that won't kill your plants or you!
Most any standard potting mix is fine for your Purple Passion Plant, as long as it is peat-based. When rooting cuttings, always use the smallest pot that the roots will fit into along with just enough soil to cover the roots. A large pot will take too long to dry out between waterings and cause the tender new roots to rot. Plants also grow best when quite potbound, so small pots help that way, too.
