QuestionPurchaced this plant from Zellers about a month ago. It was very healthy looking...not a brown spot anywhere. It's about 3 feet tall. After bringing it home and placing it beside a window...(not in front of window), multiple leave tips are turning brown and many leaves are falling off.
The label said "High light & Low light." Why is is not happy? Could it be the shock of moving it? The heat is not on in the house yet. Lowest temperature has been 60 degrees farenhieght at night.
AnswerHi Carol,
Part of the problem could be that the plant is stressed from the change in environment. It will acclimate to the new environment fairly soon and the leaf drop should slow down then stop.
The most common reason for browning leaf tips on most Dracaena is caused by fluoride toxicity. Dracaena are especially sensitive to the fluoride found in most tap water. Other chemicals in tap water such as chlorine and hard water deposits can cause problems as well.
I recommend using distilled water. By using distilled water you can avoid the problems that can be caused by fluoride toxicity and water quality.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
