QuestionHi,
I have recently started growing potted plants in my apartment. I purchased a small Jade plant that is beginning to grow quite well. However, due to my inexperience, I over looked the fact that my plant was twist tied very tightly and probably a very long time ago because the plant has begun to grow over it to the point where it is barely visible. My question is what do I do? cut it off? leave it on? Both options are going against my instinct as I feel cutting it may weaken the plant stems and leaving it on may just delay the problem. I'm terribly confused and can't find any information regarding this. Thank you for your help.
AnswerAlexandra,
You need to very carefully cut it off. If you can clip it on 2 or 3 sides of the tie and very gently pull any pieces of it off you will solve your problem. If you can't get the pieces out at least by cutting it on 2-3 sides it will no longer restrict the growth thereby alswo solbing the main problem. Leaving it there you are jepordizing that the plant will break off. Good luck.
