what type of indoor plant is best suited for my house

Question
i have a townhouse that has forced air heating and my available sunlight is from a double sliding door from my living room to the patio. i recently purchased a palm plant and repotted it into a larger pot with fresh mineral grow soil added to the existing foundation. after watering and placing it by the doors, it has started turning yellow with brown tips around numerous sections, all in less than a week  please help.

Answer
Olga,

A new plant should not be moved to a larger pot unles it is severely rootbound. In other words unless when you remove it from the pot all you see is roots and no soil. Then it is time to move it to a larger pot. Otherwise you should set the pot it comes in in a decorative basket or ceramic pot or repot it in a pot the sam size.  It s turning yellow because it is staying too wet which is really easy to happen when it is moved to too large a pot. It should only be wet a few days then should be fairly dry for 3 days before you water it again generally once a week. It definitely must be in a pot with a drain hole and a drain tray under it.

You may need to move it to a smaller pot so it will dry out between waterings. You should always empty the drain tray an hour after you water it. If it doesn't have a drain tray that is why it is staying too wet. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
