QuestionHi,
Recently I purchased a Majesty Palm Tree from Walmart. I don't know if I am caring for it properly, I water it when the top feels dry (every other day or every few days. The ends of some of the leaves are turning brown and it is developing brown spots as well. How often should I water this plant and what do the brown spots mean?
I really don't want my tree to die, so I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thank you in advance for taking the time.
Sincerely,
Angel Roberto
AnswerAngel,
You are watering too often. You should never leave water in the drain tray but when you water you should give it enough water so all the soil in the pot is moist then an hour later you should empty the drain tray. If you can't pick it up to empty the drain try you should use a turkey baster to suck the excess water out. The do not water again for a week. You can insert a bamboo skewer into the soil and leave it there. When you think it needs watered pull the skewer out and if it is not dry half way down the skewer it is still too wet to need watered. Wait a couple more days and check again. It should be about a week. Good luck.
