QuestionHi I just ordered 2 ponytail palms and the lady wrapped them in a wet paper towel, now it looks fine, but now what do I do? what kind of soil do i buy? I keep seeing videos of planting this pot in very small dishes, please help me I love plants but never got out of growing pothos {scindapsus aureus} so this is new to me thanx.
AnswerTonyalyn,
Ponytail palms should be palnted in pots not a lot bigger around than the bulbousbase of the plant. If the plants are seedlings plant them in 4 inch diameter clay pots with drainage holes and saucers under them and use sandy cactus soil. Put them in the sunniest window that you have and in the summer when night temps are above 50 degrees you can put this plant outdoors in full sun. These are easy lovely plants. Do not over water them or allow them to sit with water in the drain tray. Good luck.
