QuestionI've grown these for years with good luck, but never planted the seeds. Last year I bought a new one, Hippeastrum 'Charisma'. It was isolated from others and developed seeds. I planted and now have 23 new bulbs, 1 year old. Since the plant pollinated itself, will the offspring be exactly like the parent?
Thank you,
Tony
AnswerTony,
The answer is maybe but probably not. The reason is the Hippeastrum 'Charisma' is a Hybrid with 2 parents who each had 2 parents etc., etc. The seeds will be a grab bag that will produce flowers like either of the 2 parents or the 4 grand parents or the 8 great grandparents, etc. So you may get some that look really similar and you may get some that look really different. Have fun, it could be exxciting. Good luck.
