QuestionMy 5 foot 20 year old cactus sits in an enclosed screened porch in Florida. It has been freezing here for a week or so,She looks fine. Afraid to! Please tell me ASAP Thanks
AnswerAja,
I assume you mean you are afaraid to move it. You might put a blanket over it at night. Since it is up close to the house it is not as cold as the air away from the house. It is somewhat protected. A blanket would hold the heat in even more. If you have any kind of shade on the porch of course close them to protect it even more. Cacti are pretty hardy. It can get cold in the desert. The first signs of a real problem will be if she turns dark green and gets mushy spots. That is what frozen spots on a cactus looks like. I doubt that it got that cold right next to the house but a blanket might help to cover it the next few nights. Good luck.
