QuestionI brought few night blossoming jasmine plants from nursery. They gradually developed fine white wool like stuff on leaves. This spread to my other tropical plants and leaves turned yellow and plants gradually died. I have few plants in my house alive and well in other side of house. What should I do to save these plants. What should I do in future
AnswerIjaz,
You have mealy bugs. You need to spray the infested plants with rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Spray the entire plant getting the fronts and backs of all the leaves. You will need to respray it twice a week 4 times to kill any eggs that hatch even if you do not see insects so they are not allowed to mature. Immature mealy bugs are not visible without a magnifying lens. You have to consistantly inspect the plants and spray them until you know you have not had mealy bugs for at least 6 months. When you spray them the white fluff will vanish and you will see the insect under it. as long as there is fluff there are mealy bugs. Good luck in getting rid of them.
