Question
 Now that I know why my peace lily has brown leaves, do I cut these leaves back, or how do I improve the look?

That's an easy one, if they are totally brown cut them off at the base of the stem. Fertilize the plant lightly to encourage new growth. As partially brown leaves turn cut them off also. Keeping the plant in a bright location near an east window will encourage more growth to replace the damaged foliage. Mine is next to a set of east facing French Doors and the light helps it grow well. Good luck.
