QuestionWILL MY COFFEE BEAN PLANT REALLY GROW COFFEE. ITS A HOUSEPLANT I JUST BOUGHT. and CAN YOU GROW A PINEAPPLE PLANT AND HAVE IT GROW FRUIT HOW WOULD I START ONE
AnswerHello Doris,
As a houseplant sorry, there will be no aroma of roasting coffee beans in the future as the white flowers and red berries rarely appear under ordinary room conditions. However your plant is an attractive bush shape with dark shiny wavy-edged leaves which likes light but not direct sunlight. The compost should be kept moist at all times, mist occasionally and repot every two years in the spring.
As for pineapples, well that's a different story, you CAN grow a fruiting pineapple plant as long as you are patient as it will take some time, years not months.
I suggest you look up this website www.rickswoodshopcreations.com/Pineapple/pineapple.htm - the writer explains absolutely everything you could possibly want to know. Under Flowering and Fruiting click on "here" and you will see lots of photographs over the years - it's fascinating - I might just try to grow one myself!
I wish you lots of success,
Diana
