QuestionI have a fruiting hot chilli pepper (2 feet tall, not counting pot) on my sunny (diffused sunlight) windowsill. While the big fruit is still growing, the flowers and fruitlets are dropping. My question is, how much water and food exactly do I need to give the plant? I've found conflicting advice on watering and fertilising. Please advise, thank you!
AnswerGood afternoon Pat,
I'll tell you about my experience of growing a chilli pepper plant [Capsicum anuum].
I found that spraying of the flowers [like you would do for tomato flowers] set them so that the fruit then formed. This was done daily and I did not experience any flower or fruit dropping. During the spring and summer up to around September the plant needed liberal watering - I never let the soil dry out completely. Mine was growing outside so had plenty of fresh air plus morning sun. After that I reduced watering.
I fed my plant every week with Phostrogen [fertiliser in powder form] and it did me proud!
I hope the above information will help you keep your plant in good condition.

P.S. I am surprised at the ratings you have given me for knowledge and helpfulness - perhaps you would tell me what else you were expecting? That will help me when answering others queries as I thought I had been extremely helpful and had given you 100% knowledge answering your query thoroughly. Thank you.
