QuestionOne of my umbrella plants (smaller type) has sticky leaves - it has been in front of my east window for quite sometime. could it be getting too much direct light?
AnswerHello Leigh,
Stickiness on plant leaves is going to be due to insects probably aphids or scale so check your plant for these, turning over the leaves to check the underside.
If the plant is easy to handle I would try to wash off the insects and then when the plant is dry spray with a proprietary insecticide according to the instructions.
Your plant likes bright light but not direct sunshine. Whilst you are treating it make sure to keep it away from other plants until you are sure there are no more insects on it.
I hope the above helps you save your plant.
