QuestionI have read the answer as to pruning a Chinadoll houseplant. I have one in my office that is 7 feet tall. If I cut it to 6 feet tall, I can expect to see new growth from the end, right? How about the cutaway stem? Can I let it root in water to grow a new plant, or should I repot it, or it will die no matter what? Thanks.
AnswerHello Daniel, Yes, after pruning your plant you will get new growth from the cut end. As Chinadoll plants are quite difficult to propagate do not be hard on yourself if it doesn't work but the way to do is to place a cutting [green stem not woody] from between 3"-6" in damp potting soil in a small pot, cover with a plastic bag as these cuttings need a lot of humidity to put out roots. When it has put out roots you can then transplant to another container and treat as you would the mother plant keeping the soil moist.
Good Luck, Diana
