QuestionHow often do you water the Azalea
AnswerHello Elise,
Azaleas are very thirsty plants - in the spring/summer when the buds are opening and then later when the plant is in full flower it will need more frequent watering than at other times of the year when it is resting. If your plant is in a clay pot [clay pots are always preferable to plastic pots] it will need even more watering! I prefer to water mine by lowering it into a bucket of water until the air bubbles stop rising to the surface of the water. Then it must be drained before placing it back on its tray. I do this once a week unless I see the flowers are beginning to droop and then I give it some more water. Never let the soil dry out completely. As Azaleas do not like dry air you can mist the plant - every day if you have time. The plant, whilst in flower, should not be in direct sunlight but definitely in a light position. As the flowers die, remove them as this will encourage further growth.
