Frost Bitten House plants

Question
I have a few different types of house plants and thought they needed some fresh
air and sun. well i let them sit out side for about 4 days. when i brought them
back in some of the leaves turned brown. i thought it was the sun, rain maybe
etc.... now some of the leaves are slowly falling  off or wilting. what can i do
should i cut the plants back? thanks for the help

Answer
Sean,

Houseplants are tropical plants. They should never go outside until night time temperatures are always above 50 degrees. Your problems could be the result of frost or sunburn or a combination of both. When you first move tropical plants outside in the spring after the temperatures are above 50 degrees at night you should put them in a shady area first and slowly move them to a sunnier location so they gradually get used to the sun and do not get sunburned at once.

At this point I would only cut off leaves as they turn brown or wilt. Do not cut them back other than cutting off the damaged leaved. That should be enough and your plants should slowlv come back and be bushier than ever. Be patient. It should start sending out new growth in 3-4 weeks and the leaves should stop turning browm theen you can stop pruning leaves and enjoy your plants. Good luck.
