triming a selluam

Question
I have a large selluam. My guess it is ft by ft. there are leaves sprouting from the bottom side of the plant along with "teneckals" like things growing down to the soil. i was wondering if there was any way to cut a porchen off the plant to start a hole new plant

Answer
James,

The tenacles are aerial roots. If the plant has 2 separate crowns or central points with leaves growing from each crown then you can divide it and get 2 separate plants. If it doesn't have 2 crowns it cannot be divided. If it does you can cut it apart using a sharp spade and put it into 2 separate pots about the same size as the pot it is in now. Good luck.
