QuestionI have a small ivy plant with soft almost fuzzy leaves. It has small purple blooms. I have been told it is a dolphin ivy. Do you kinow what it is and how to care for it?
AnswerKathryn,
It is tradescantia sillamontana. http://www.gardentia.net/commelina_008.htm
Scientific Name : Tradescantia sillamontana
Family : Commelinaceae
Common Name : Pussy's ears
The wooly leaves of this plant are very attractive. It needs lots of sun to stay compact and attratcive. In shade the plants lose their floss & become lanky. Tiny rocd flowers are quite attractive.
Propagation : Stem cuttings, division
Longevity : Perennial
It needs to be kept lightly moist but not wet and not stand in water in the drain trays constantly. If you have more questions write again. Good luck.
