thinning dracanea

Question
My 3 year old Dracaena fragrans, which is kept in indirect light outside, has recently stopped thriving. Its leaves are now thin in width and it's yellowing. How can I turn it around and can I cut it back to start over?

Answer
Eva,

You can cut it back but you have to figure out what the problem is first. It may be a watering problem, either too much or too little. Has something happened to change the amount of it gets. Too much rain lately or too little? Are you having a problem with a sprinkling system? Maybe you have a pipe leaking in the ground near it giving it too much water. You should check out that first. It needs to dry out betwen waterings. Yellow leaves indicates too much water. You need to find the cause. Good luck.
