Maid of Orleans Jasmine

Question
My jasmine plant became heavily infected with scales.  In order to try to save
my plant I cut off all the branches, stems and leaves that were infected.  As a
result the only thing left are a few stumps sticking out of my potting soil.  Is
there any hope for my plant?  Any tips on how to help me take care of my
plant will be appreciated as well.

Answer
Maria,

If you cut off all of the green off of the plant it will probably not regrow. Most of the time when you remove everything green trees, bushes or vines refuse to regrow. If you leave 1 green leaf it will regrow. However I would not give up. I would put it in the sunniest warmest possible spot and be very careful not to overwater. Just keep it slightly moist and wait. I would give it at least 6 months.

In the future if you have a plant with scale you can use rubbing alcohol on q-tips or old rags to wipe scale off of a plant or put it in a spray bottle and spray it repeatedly over a period of 3-4 weeks and you will kill the scale without killing the plant. Goodluck.
