QuestionThis is the second time I am attemting to have these tree's and they appear to be doing the same thing that the other two did. They died, and I have no idea why. Can you please help? I water them only when they need it and that is when they are dry soil, I have very hard water that after 4 or 5 waterings I have to stir the top soil on top to loosen up the calcium or white custy top.Does this type of water hurt the orange tree's? I put them outside in the summer and bring them in when the frost season approches. I love the tree's and I want to help them thrive. The leaves are changing colors to a yellow and fall off. Is this normal to loose the leaves? The last tree's never releafed. I am located in the north so daylight is getting real short and I was wondering if maybe I need to get a Flower type light bulb to put in the room to help them? Please help me help the tree's? Thank you
AnswerTammy,
It sounds like the trees are getting too much water and not enough sun. To help you better I need to know how large a pot your trees are in? The pots do have a drain hole with a drain tray under the pot right? How tall the trees are? How much sun do your trees get when they are indoors? How cloes to a window do they sit and which direction does that window face? Are the drapes or blinds open all day? About how often do they get dry enough that they need watered again? I suggest that you start using distilled water to water them with until it snows then melt snow to water them with, it will not have all the minerals in it. Distilled water is less than 90 cents a gallon at Walmart. You can answer me on All Experts or email me at
