QuestionAfter growing these beautiful plants all summer, I was cleaning out the containers and found these tubers. Are they safe to eat? They are thin skinned red and white.
AnswerCatherine,
I wondered the same thing and when I checked on it I was told the taste lousy. Of course, I didn't believe them so I had to try them myself, so I microwaved a small one. It was very grainy and tasted somewhat bitter. It's too bad that they are so pretty and taste so lousy. You can save the bulb in a brown paper bag in a cool location such as a garage that doesn't freeze and replant it in the spring and it will grow again. Good luck.
