Question
I bought a hpuse plant 2 years ago the card said it was a texas rose.  In the winter in looses all its leaves and comes back in the fall, luckily.  It is now about 3 feet high.  It did bloom 1 year with beautiful flowers.  my question is how do i keep it from loseing its leaves every winter and start blooming again? Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Michelle,

I know of no house plant called Texas Rose. I suspect that you are talking about a plant called Desert Rose. The latin name is Adenium obesum. It is a beautiful plant and I own one myself.

You can see a picture at the following site to see if this is your plant:

This site has excellent detailed care instructions:

The main reasons that Desert Rose Plants loose leaves is because they are overwatered or they do not get enough light. They need to  get full sun from a south or west facing window that has drapes or blindes open from dawn to dusk. They should be wateredonly when they have been dry for several days especially during the winter. In spring and summer they can be watered more frequently. They are a desert plant and store water in their bulbous base. If you have more questions after reading that website feel free to write again. Good luck.
