QuestionMy Jade is sprouting roots on its branches. I've read here that it is because that side(s)is not getting enough sun. If I were to cut that branch off to do a starter plant would these roots give is a "head start"?
AnswerHi Shannon,
Root like growths on the stems of plants do not always give the stem a 'head start' in propagating that stem. Depending on the type of Jade plant you have, the root like growths could actually be support tendrils the plant has grown to spread out. The root like growths are mainly for attaching the stem to some surface for support while the plant spreads out, like a Pothos plant growing up a moss pole or an Ivy growing up a wall. These tendrils may or may not cause the stem to root quicker than a stem that does not have them.
Most Jade plants propagate easily so you should not have a problem whether the stem has these tendrils or not.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
