i just received this plant, and would like to to know if cats can be around this plant and if it would cause any harm if my cats got around this plant.. thanks ginger

There are many different varieties of bromeliads but I do not know of any that are poisonous to cats or people. Cats, however can destroy your bromeliads in short order if they decide to use them as a litter box or play with them with their claws. You are better off keeping the cats and the plants separate for the benefit of all. Good luck.
