QuestionI bought a lovely gloxinia plant two years ago, and it was low to the pot. The first time it came back it got leggy and I propped the legs up. It bloomed then. It is now coming out of dormancy for the second time and it's getting leggy again. Is there anything I can do to keep it from getting too leggy while it's growing now?
AnswerJesse,
Basically, their care is the same as that of African violets. Gloxinias need cool night temps (65 degrees) and day temperatures about 10 degrees warmer, but not beyond 80 degrees. Gloxinias need bright light but no sun, they will get leggy if grown in too low light areass. You should be able to read a paperback book sitting where the plant is. If you cant then you need to move it to a brighter locationl. It will thrive under grow lights or a mixed fluorescent bulb setup. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
