QuestionI have a dusky pink syngonium which I bought maybe two months ago. Since then, some of the leaves have very tightly curled up and new leaves coming out curled don't uncurl. Is this a disease or just a lighting problem? I'll try to send a picture. Thanks for any help you could give!
AnswerJayme,
I haven't seen your picture so I'll go ahead and answer. There are 2 reasons for curling leaves. Uncurl one of the leaves manually and ssee if there is an insect inside the curled leaf. If there is you need an insecticide. I would probaly take it outside and spray it heavily with liquid sevin makiing sure it got inside the curled leaves. Then leave the plant sit outside in the shade for a day or 2.
The other problem is the plant may be too cold and wet or in a draft. Is it sitting next to an air conditioner vent? Move it to a warmer, draft-free place and only water it when the soil is slightly dry (not just the surface of the soil). This plant should never sit with water in the drain tray and should not be watered until a bamboo skewer inserted into the soil comes out with the top 2/3rds dry. It should sit in an east window or close to a south or west window so it gets bright light but not full sun all day. Sun in the morning is great. Good luck.
