Transporting a 7 foot palm

Question
I am able to acquire a ponytail palm that is a little over 7 feet tall.  What is the best way to transport it, so I do not damage it?  Can it be laid on it's side during transport, or does it need to be propped up, or totally upright?  I have to go between 15-20 miles.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer
Rose,

It will break fairly easily so if you lay it down it must be supported fully. Totally upright would probably be best in an enclosed truck. In an open truck you would need to wrap the foliage so the wind doesn't tear the foliage apart. Be very careful with it. This plant needs warm temperatures, lots of sun and little water like a cactus. Good luck.
