QuestionQUESTION: I have a croton plant I brought home from work after I retired. When I received it, the leaves were colorful red, yellow & green. Since bringing it home, the leaves have turned all green! I water it when the soil dries a bit & fertilize it once/month. It looks healthy, but why did the leaves all turn green? Did I do something wrong?
ANSWER: Mary,
Your croton is not getting enough sun. This plant is a sun worshipper and needs full sun all day long to maintain that beautiful color. Move it to a sunny window and leave the covering open from dawn to dusk and it will come back. Be careful not to overwater. Good luck.

QUESTION: Darlene
My croton is in the sunroom, right next to a 10' window!! I don't know how to give it more sun, except to put it outdoors!
AnswerMary,
What direction does your 10' window face and are there trees close to the windows? Do you have drapes or blinds on the windows?
What type of fertiliuzer do you use on this plant?
I only take 2 questions a day so you will have to answer to my private email so we can discuss this. You may need a micronutrient and more sun, less window covering. Good luck.
