Can I do this...

Question
I have a Dracaena Janet Craig that has dropped a lot of bottom leaves. Unfortunately, it got pretty dried out while I was out of town and no one watered it!-( The top of the plant is beautiful. My question is, can I bury the plant deeper in the potting soil, and thereby burying the part of the stem that has no leaves?

Answer
Su,

If you are not talking about burying 3 feet of stem then yes you can. If it has too much bare trunk you can air layer the top off and put it in a separate new pot and the old roots will then grow a whole new top and you will have 2 plants. Directions for air layering are at the following site:

If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
