QuestionI have had my Amate Schefflera for many, many years. It grows nicely but the edges of the lower leaves especially, seem to have wavy or curly edges. Lately, I've noticed that the branches are even starting to droop downward. What's going on here? Also, can you explain how to propagate my Dieffenbachia? The main cane is huge and getting out of control! There are 5 other canes of various heights as well. I'm running out of room for it's climb! Please help if you can!
AnswerThis is VERY IMPORTANT TO DO RIGHT AWAY, It is going to die, there is no cure. You have Bacterial Stem blight, I am not the person you sent this question to. But I say this question in a Experts "Question Pool" in other words the expert you asked put it there. If means that any person that is an expert in the Area and Category you asked the question in.
What to do:
1) Cut of the health stems and put the tip in rooting hormone. You can find this at your local plant shop, sometime your flower shop, most of the time WalMart, if you have a Menard's in your area it has 99.99% chance of having it.
2) Before you dip it in the hormone powder get the end wet. You will need to put the powder on all of the part of the "Dumb Cane" that will go under the soil, because it prevents the rotting of the "stem"
3) Plant it in the soil, and make sure it is in a very humid environment. NEVER USE THAT SAME POT THAT THE OLD DUMN CANE WAS IN OR THE SOIL IT WAS IN EVER AGAIN. If you wish to get a second opinion, do not ask them if it has blight, it is NOT blight it is BACTERIAL STEM blight. (Bacterial and Stem is underlined!)
Please note it may take YEARS to grow back the roots and it may take a week! I should not die even if it doesn't have roots as long as it is always WET not MOIST
Good Luck with you "Dumb Cane"!
My bad I made a wierd mistake I ment Amate Schefllera, when I said "Dumb Cane" but you can propagate the Dumb Cane the same way only you can use a leaf or a stem.
Sorry for the Mix Up!
