QuestionHi;
I have managed to keep my jasmine alive all winter indoors, by providing lots of sun and good watering intervals, it was beautifully green and blossoming, until some rude spider mites decided to make it a home. luckily i caught it not too late, i have used Einstein neem oil and i don't see anymore infestation, but now, the leaves look like they are eaten or something and are just falling off, the stems are very brown, they are not very hard but they are not soft either. I am in Canada, and it is not warm enough to take it outside, what do I need to do? Is there any hope of reviving that plant, i really am very fond of it. Any help would be wonderful. it is in a medium-large size pot, with a tray at the bottom to catch excess water. it is near to a window that gets a lot of sun during the day but is dark at night. because of the infestation when i washed it, it may have gotten some extra water, but i have drained the tray out. I occasionally spray the leaves with water to make sure that any more spiders are gone. it is about 1 1/2 year old.
I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. thank you very much!
AnswerGigi,
It sounds like you are doing the right things. When you water it empty the drain tray a few hours later if it doesn't soak the water up quickly or don't give it so much water that it goes in the drain tray. Right now, until it can goe outside you can be a little more conservative with the water bcause it has been damaged by the insects so it is recuperating and doesn't need as much water. It will have a better chance if it is kept dryer. I would continue spraying it with water but I would try to do that daily and I would add some rubbing alcohol to the water. 1 part rubbing alcohol to 3 parts water. If there are spider mites that will kill them. Make sure it gets as much sun as possible. Good luck.
