QuestionThe blooms on my anthurium have very short stems, not even growing above the leaves. In the past year my plant has bloomed continuously with long stems. What could cause the shorter blooms?
AnswerCherry,
Have you changed the location of the plant? Is it getting a lot more sun? If so the plant may feel it is shading the blooms to protect them from the burning the son. Move it to a shadier location and the stems may elongate. The stems on anthurium blooms usually lengthen as they get older anyway so if these have only been in bloom for a few days they will naturally elongate. You just may not have noticed the blooms this early in the past. In anycase if you moved it to a sunnier location move it to a shadier location and you will see the stems grow. Good luck.
Darlene.
