QuestionI am having a lady palm delivered this week. I have been told by everyone in the store that it will be fine in this situation but I am concerned about the light. I am placing it about one foot away from a south facing window where it currently will get sun shining right on it from 7:30 am to 12:30 am. From that point on the light is indirect as it passes the window. I am in Washington DC. I have no covering on the windows but by summer I plan on getting some type of curtain. Also, do you think this will look OK in a pretty modern setting? thanks!
AnswerHi Leslie,
I would recommend that you place the Lady Palm about 2-3 feet away from a curtain filtered south facing window. This time of year it should be okay but make sure you get the curtain up before spring. Without the curtain, the direct sunlight may be too much for the palm.
Also be sure to check the palm regularly for insects. Spider mites love palm plants and a warm, dry, sunny place is an ideal condition for spider mites to thrive.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
Tracy
