QuestionHi! I've had my corn plant for about 4 months. Initially the plant was placed in a south facing window and doing well until the bottom level of leaves turned brown and dry. i cut some off but then stopped b/c I wasn't sure if that was ok. I thought the plant might be responding to the cool weather ( it was near a sliding door)...so I moved it upstairs to a north facing window, still receiving bright light but without cold drafts. now the plant is completely brown and looks dead. I have not repotted it since original purchase. What can I do to save this plant!?!
Thanks-
Nicole
AnswerNicole,
Corn plants cannot be watered with water that has flouride in it and they also need to be watered like cactus. They have to be allowed to dry out totally before being watered again. I suspect you have watered too often and maybe given it too much water when you watered it so it has been constantly wet causing root rot. Get another and let it dry out between waterings. Every 2 weeks is often enough and the north window is good, they don't like the sun, just bright light. Good luck.
