Parasite

Question
Some type of parasite has laid eggs along the undersides of my pothos, cordyline and some other plant in the spider family.  I first noticed these white specks all over my pothos then a closer inspection revealed  chalky, web-like eggs with some type of bug gestating.  Where did this come from all of the sudden?  This happens to coincide with mice infestation. Do mice carry something that also feeds on house plants?

Answer
Hi Sabenah,
Insects on plants have nothing to do with mice. The most common way for insects that feed on plants to get into your home is to hitch a ride on new plants. It is mainly for this reason is it is good idea to isolate new plants from the 'resident' plants for about a month. That will allow enough time for any insect presence or other problem to become apparent.
It sounds like you may have a Spider Mite infestation. There are several ways to deal with an existing insect infestation and to prevent future infestations.
Since this is such a common problem and there is a lot of information available to deal with this type of problem I wrote a guide that has a lot of information on the most common types of insects and the different types of insecticides available to control and prevent insect problems on houseplants.
Here is a link to the guide. I really can not include all the information in this answer to your question. There is just too much information for me to be able to put it all in an answer here.
