Sedum Burrito

Question
I recently purchased a Sedum Burrito. It is in the original pot, with the original soil. I usually keep it very, very dry. The other day I noticed that some of the little grape looking things have fallen off. I think that the last time that I watered it, I may have gotten a little heavy handed. It gets filtered light, and has been growing quite rapidly. What did I do wrong? I love this plant, and I don't want to lose it. The little things that fell off, can they be planted? If so, how? Can you tell me how to care for them? Thanks a bunch.

Nana

Answer
Hi Nana,

It is quite normal for a limited number of the Burro's Tail leaves to drop off. A larger number may fall if the plant is moved or bumped or if the soil gets a bit too dry. A single watering will not cause this to happen. It may also be that your plant is adapting to its new environment.

Burro's Tail thrives  in direct sun, so you may want to consider locating it where it can get at least some direct sun each day.

Your decisions not to repot and to allow the soil to get very dry between waterings are good ones.

If the fallen leaves are allowed to lie on the surface of slightly moist soil, they will develop roots and eventually grow baby plantlets. They pretty much propagate themselves!
