Question
we have a LARGE aloe plant. we need to repot as the root is pushing the plant out of the container. can we trim the root a bit so we can center the plant? we've had it almost 16years...its about 4 foot high (including the pot) and about 5 foot wide.

Wow, that is an impressive aloe!  A big job to repot also. Yes, you should be able to prune off the lower part of the root to center to center the plant. Just try not to get into too major of root pruning and I would not prune more than 8 inches of thick roots off. Be carefull about not getting too close to the base of the aloe plant. Good luck.
