QuestionHi Will,
I am Avijit from Delhi, India. We have some potted plants at our home in India. Recently, we discovered some of the plant leaves are getting curly and distorted. On detailed observation, it seemed most of them have some fine white spots on the leaf backs. Suspecting pest eggs, I plucked most of the defective leaves and sprayed some diluted CNS-30 solution (Cashew Nut Shell extract 30%) on them; as we avoid chemical pesticides. But the new leaves that are coming out are also curly and defective, this time with fin brown spots on the back. This is predominant on a Hibiscus plant. It will be a great help, if you can suitably advice. If you need, I can send you some photographs also.
Regards.

AnswerHi Avijit,
Is this a Hibiscus plant that has these spots? Is it indoors or outdoors? A photo sent to me at
[email protected] would be helpful.
I suspect scale insects, but your description is too vague for me to be sure. Have you noticed any stickiness on or under the plant?
I am not familiar with CNS-30 solution so I do not know if it is effective. However, I do know of other non-chemical treatments for most common indoor plant pest problems.

Will Creed
