Yucca plant is too tall

Question
I have two Yukka planta (I think it is the variagated one as it has white parts on the leaves) and I am here in the very North of the UK.

I put the Yukka plant outside for the spring and summer and also as it's getting just too big for the house (they are both around 7ft tall but with the leaves pointing up about 8ft tall). I have a 4 ft wall outside which one of the Yukka stands against as I had to prop it up as it was so tall. Theis yukk ain particular has two stalks - one around 3-4ft tall, the other around 7ft as I said. The wind comes over the wall and hits the top stalk so that I believe it is turning the leaves yellow / brown and shrivelled up.

What I'd like to do to both plants is simply cut them down to a resonable size that I can get them in the house for the winter.

So my questions are for both plants - can I simply cut the largest stalk in half and re-pot it in the same pot (with growth hormone)? If so, how do I cut it (a saw?) and should I leave the leaves on or not?. Will it be okay to put three stalks in one pot (as it already has two)?

Any other advice very much appreciated. I have great Yukka's so I don't want to kill them!!

Answer
Hi Paul,

I am not sure you have a Yucca because Yuccas do not come variegated, as far as I know.

I will need a photo sent to me at [email protected] so I can ID your plant and also see the thickness of the stem you are intending to cut. The photo should show the entire plant, including its pot.

Please include your questions with the photo.

Thanks,
Will Creed
